DEBUT IN THE USA

Caroline Asplin - Debut in the USA

Caroline Asplin was two years old when she first entered the stage, at a Christmas party where her father, Per Asplin, was performing. She has now released the CD "Compassion" in Los Angeles an album dedicated to her good friend, Stefanie, who disappeared without a trace more than three years ago.

Caroline was on tour in the USA with her father when she met Stefanie in 1982. Six years later, Stefanie disappeared without a trace in Nevada on her way home to San Francisco after traveling around the world on her own.

Music Studies
Caroline came over from Norway and actively supported the parents in the search for their daughter. After that, she went on to studying music in Los Angeles. She decided to release an album on her own, which is currently distributed privately in Los Angeles.

From Norway
VG was there when Caroline presented "Compassion" for a circle of friends this week. Stefanie's family had come down from San Francisco for this occasion Caroline's parents all the way from Norway.
-Danceable jazz-pop, with some Latin American rhythms. Plus meaningful lyrics, says Caroline to VG. A lot of it is about Stefanie, about violence against women and sexual abuse.

Personal
-Everything I write is personal, both about my own and other people's experiences. She plays guitar, violin and piano. Harmonizes with herself. Arranges and produces. She has mixed three of the songs on the audio equipment in her living room. Some is done in the studio.

With Her Father
Caroline was three years old when she starred in the TV musical "Putti Plutti Pott". Later in "Cardamom Town" and "I Found, I Found", plus concerts and albums with her father.
-I asked if anybody wanted to sing, and was very surprised when Caroline marched up on the podium, because she was very shy. Everybody probably thought it was planned, says Per Asplin about Caroline's debut at the Christmas party.

She has shown the same goal oriented attitude since, but it couldn't bring Stefanie back. Caroline is moving back to Oslo on February 12. Two cats are added to the luggage. The presentation of "Compassion" was also a goodbye party: - I'm going to start in Norway now, then Europe and then - the world! Says Caroline Asplin.
